Union Camp 2005
Came back home yesterday dog-tired. I slept from 4-7pm, 8-10pm and then 01am-10am this morning. I have been short of sleep for the past 5 days. And I slept at 0500am on the last day of the camp after playing 终极密码 with stupid forfeit. Now let me recall the happenings for the O camp.
On the first day of the camp(tuesday),
My friend WA and I actually reported to the wrong place. We went to the Yusof Ishak House instead of the Yusof Hall. When we arrived at Yusof hall, most frieshies were already there practising cheering. After collecting my goodie bag and OG Tshirt, I joined my OG "Helio" and start practising cheer. I met quite a few friends from PowerOne and ACJC there. Most of us were given single room, which is good and bad too. Good because I can have privacy and peace, bad because I will have less time for interaction with friends. Then we proceeded to have lunch at the hall. It tasted disgusting at first just like the Police Academy food, but I think i had got used to it later on. After lunch we played CLUDO game where we were shown a video about how a murder happened and we had to find out the culprit from the many stations at diff places of NUS. We would find clues from each station and played team bonding games to score pts for our OG too. At night, the student councillors performed dances and short dramma. The freshies had to perform something similar on thursday night.
2nd day(Wednesday)
We had to wake up at 0715, which was really early for the freshies who had been slacking at home for the past few mths. We had pool games at the NUS pool for the whole day. And with lots of cheating, our team managed to come in 2nd out of 10 teams. The games were for the freshies to break the ice i believed. Most of the games involved contact between guys and girls. I tought it would be embarassing but the games were so exciting that I think most people including myself had forgotten the person we were carrying or holding were girls. We tried crazy things like using our mouth to collect water from a wet sponge transported by people's legs and armpits, and then put the water in our mouth back to a bottle but it caused even more water wastage and our plan backfired. Two of my OGmates dropped their contact lens in the small pool and many guys tried to look for it. Of ocurse we failed to find the lens which were transparent. After dinner, we met our secret pal but we were all blind-folded, I had a 15 min chit-chatting session with my Secret Pal then we headed back to the canteen. At night we had fright night at Har Par Villa. It was the first time I visited the place in Sing. I went to HarParVilla Once in HK but the one in Sing was very differnt from the one in HK but the sculptures there were similar. One guy and one girl made up one pair. Two pairs would proceed to the entrance together but they would have to enter separately after that. The girl in my neighbouring pair had been telling people how scared she was before we went in. However, she was telling us many many fright night experiences from her friends so I tot she was just pretending to be scared as she would already know what to expect inside the place. However she turned hysterical even in the entrance section where Darve Vader look alike councillors would approached and made scary noise around you. She screamed so loudly that even the freshies waiting 400 m away from the house can hear her screaming. She actually made me freaked out more than any of the "ghosts" there did. My partner was a solid brave sports lady. She only held my shirt and followed behind me through. Both of us were not really scared except the pt when one "ghost" suddenly jumped out from the blind corner outside the room and screamed really loud where we were given a shock. The fright night was good in terms of the costumes and make up of the ghosts and scale. The whole journey took abt 20 min which was really quite long compared to other camps.
3rd day(thursday)
There was one super boring DBS sponsor talk in the morning. I was sabotaged to become the narrator for the short dramma my OG performed. In the afternoon, we went Sentosa for beach games and I was elected as the IC that day. The most diff job must be the carrying of the Helio mascot. It's not that heavy but to carry it anywhere you go was really troublesome. I had to stay in front of the team so I could not talk to my buddies behind too. Generally speaking, the beach games were quite fun but the time was really too short due to the large number of frieshies in the camp. One OG got abt 24 freshies and there were 10 OGs all together. Overall the games were ok lah. At night, we performed a short dramma cum musical. It's abt one guy who was sacked from work and he had no girlfriend. In the end he decided to further study at NUS but he was jeered by his ah beng friends. In the end he joined NUS to sudy and met councillors where one of them became his gf eventually. I was the KeiLeiFei there who only needed to walk across the stage. haha good. The other performances were really good, given such a short time for practice.
4th day(Friday)
We had war games for the whole day. the war games were okay but the water bomb part was a big screw up. The objective of the game was unclear and so were the rules. Anyway, we had fun playing DaoBok and throwing councillors into muddy water. We had Cheong Nite after that where we would meet out Secret pal too. We first saw each other face to face on the NUS bus which would bring us to a club at Clake Quay. She was a SEA game swimmer and I was really impressed by that. The chitchatting was nice and there was not too much silent time on the bus. However, we did not have much time for more chit chatting as she was involved in a Mr/Miss Union camp Pageant compeition. She left for rehersal right after she finished the dinner at the club. Then I hang out with my group of OG friends and danced. This was only my 2nd time clubbing and dancing. The first time was at KLCC Zouk. I liked the music at the Club more than Zouk and most importantly, I think I had improved a lot in my dancing. I looked so damn awkward when I first danced at the KL Zouk. Must go to club a few more times to practice my dancing. After clubbing, we headed back to Yusof hall fro shower after which we went to Feng Seng for supper. We played many games like ROCK and other stupid games there and at the hall. We slept only at 0500 am the next morning.
5th day(Sat)
After prize presentation, the camp ended officially and our OGLs kindly treated us Canadian pizza at NUS. We played a few more games nefore we went home at 0400pm.
Conlcusion: I think I enjoyed myself in the camp. How much fun you get from the camp really depends on yrself. Hope I will have more those kind of fun in NUS. Luckily I decided to go for this camp as I think camp is not something to be missed.
